--Hello There! Some thoughts to ponder ....

Hello Everyone!

How about this.....we actually have the blog up!  Wohoo!  Building the Ark is a blog dedicated to Preparedness...........

I'm sure we all remember that it wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
It looks a bit cloudy out there.... Come along with me on a Journey to Preparedness.  Invite your friends and neighbors ....

"If ye are prepared ye shall not fear."  D&C 38:30

Some things to ponder from a Prophet:

"Many more people could ride out the storm-tossed waves in their economic lives if they had their year’s supply of food and clothing and were debt-free. Today we find that many have followed this counsel in reverse: they have at least a year’s supply of debt and are food-free" (Thomas S. Monson, "That Noble Gift—Love at Home," Church News).

 and another Propet:

"For years we have been counseled to have on hand a year's supply of food.  Yet there are some today who will not start storing until the Church comes out with a detailed monthly home storage program.  Now, suppose that never happens. We still cannot say we have not been warned.

Should the Lord decide at this time to cleanse the Church--and the need for that cleansing seems to be increasing--a famine in this land of one year's duration could wipe out a large percentage of slothful members, including some ward and stake officers.  Yet we cannot say we have not been warned."  Ezra Taft Benson

and a little more:

"There is more salvation and security in wheat," said Orson Hyde years ago, "than in all the political schemes of the world" (Journal of Discourses, 2:207)  "The revelation to produce and store food may be as essential to our temporal welfare today as boarding the Ark was to the people in the days of Noah."  (CR October 1980, Ensign 10 Nov 1980:33) Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, p266

Think of your food storage as insurance against those little irritants....such as added expenses....the car goes Kaploot, the boss cuts your hours, or worse yet, lays you off.....medical bills.....anything that shrinks the food budget.  You will be ready for it.

We can do as Joseph B. Wirthlin learned as a child.........."come what may and love it" (Genl Conf talk 10/2008)

I loved our church lesson this week as it touched on food storage and service.  It reminded me of when the Saints were stranded before they got to the Salt Lake Valley.  When Brigham Young found out, he instructed everyone to go home and collect all they could and off they went to rescue those stranded.  We may not have Saints stranded coming into the valley but we have many that are broken and stranded with life's trials.  What a blessing to be able to come to the rescue.......just as those Saints who galloped off to the rescue many years ago.

come along.....we'll have fun along the way.

Steps to Preparedness:
1.  Water
