My "Bucket List" Dessert ---this should be illegal!
My "Bucket List" Dessert (makes a boatload!)
This is a recipe I've had for years but for some reason we just hadn't tried it. I always wanted to try it but just never got around to it.. (thus the bucket list name)...really.....I knew what was in store.... Be afraid, be very afraid......it is way too good. We have leftovers in the freezer that are calling my name as I sit here and try to ignore. We had the Missionaries for dinner last night so I decided the time was now.
OH MY GOSH is this good! I originally got this recipe from the Duggar website. This would be a fun recipe for the kids to make in the kitchen. Tonight is FHE.....try it out!
Original name: Layered Ice Cream Cake
9 x 13 pan
24 Ice cream sandwiches (we used 18 for a 9 1/2 x13 dish)
8 oz Cool Whip
1 Hersey's chocolate syrup bottle (we only "drizzled" the syrup and it was plenty sweet)
1 Smuckers caramel syrup bottle (again we only used maybe 20% of the bottle)
2 King sized Butterfinger candy bars chopped up
Layer as many ice cream sandwiches on the bottom as will fit. We didn't squeeze in tight but if you want to get all 12 in the bottom.....go for it
Spread 1/2 of the cool whip over the layer of ice cream sandwiches.
Drizzle some chocolate syrup and some caramel syrup over the top of the cool whip and top with one of the Butterfingers that you crushed up.
Now........2nd verse......same as the first.
Freeze. Take out about 15min before you are going to serve to let soften a bit.
Enjoy! deb
