Naomi's Rolls
1/2 C Sugar
1 extra large egg (2Tbsp dry egg powder + 1/4 C water)
1 Tbsp shortening
1 C milk (3 Tbsp dry powdered milk + 1 C water)
1 tsp salt
4 1/2 ---5 C flour (enough to make a sticky dough) (try 1/4 to 1/2 whole wheat flour)
1 pkg yeast ( 2 1/2 tsp yeast), softened in 1/2 C lukewarm water.
Beat sugar and egg. Scald milk and cool. Add cooled milk to sugar and egg. Stir in shortening, yeast, salt and flour. Let rise about 2-2 1/2 hrs. Cut and shape into 16 rolls and let rise again for about 1/2 to 1 hr. Bake at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Note: I found this little gem of a recipe on Everyday Food Storage. I have the YouTube video below but if you are receiving this via email you will have to go to the blog as it will not email. The video will show you how to "shape" the rolls.
