Sarah Stucki Gale's Canned Apples
wow.............I'm so impressed..................don't they look yummy? I remember Sarah and Zoe as young women..........examples then and examples now...........doesn't it make you feel good to know we have such strength to carry on the next generation?
here's her recipe:
"I canned apple pie filling which can be used for lots more than just
pie. Very simple recipe. Slice apples and fill jars, mix 4 1/2 cups of
sugar, 2 tsp of cinnamon, 1/2 tsp of nutmeg, 2 tsp of salt, 2 cups of
ultra jel for pie filling mix with 10 cups of water. Bring to a boil
mixing constantly. When syrup is thick and bubbly, add 3 tbsp of lemon
juice. Pour over apples. Should fill 7 to 8 quart jars." Process in water bath.
and ........of course...........she used those special Utah apples!
