Marlowe's BBQ Dry Rub
(Marlowe’s Ribs in Memphis, Tn)
Ingredient:
6 T (3 cups) paprika
4 T (2 cups) sugar
4 T (2 cups) garlic powder
2 T (1 cup) salt
2 T (1 cup) onion powder
2 T (1 cup) Lowery's seasoned salt
1 T (1/2 cup) chili powder
1 T (1/2 cup) black pepper
1 T (1/2 cup) Black Magic
4 T (2 cups) sugar
4 T (2 cups) garlic powder
2 T (1 cup) salt
2 T (1 cup) onion powder
2 T (1 cup) Lowery's seasoned salt
1 T (1/2 cup) chili powder
1 T (1/2 cup) black pepper
1 T (1/2 cup) Black Magic
Instructions:
Mix well,
seal tight and store.
NOTE: amounts in (
) are the original amounts for a large recipe of 11 ½ cups total. Unless you want a boatload to use on
everything like we do …….use the smaller amounts.

Remember the dry rub is as important to good BBQ as the sauce. I make the whole 11 ½ C version ……..makes a
great little gift in a small jar to give at Christmas……

Black Magic Seasoning
This recipe is from the famous Marlowe's Restaurant in Memphis. The original recipe amounts are in
parenthesis – the other amount is a scaled down version
Ingredients
- 2 t (2 cups) onion powder
- 2 t (2 cups) garlic powder
- 1 t (1 cup) cayenne pepper
- 1/2 t (1/2 cup) white pepper
- 1/2 t (1/2 cup) black pepper
- 1 t (1 cup) dried thyme
- 1 t (1 cup) dried oregano
- 2 t (2 cups) salt
- 1 t (1 cup) paprika
- 1 t (1 cup) ground cumin
Instructions
Mix well, seal tight and store.
